Nevertheless, they do provide high-quality veterinary care. (And my dog is fine).
My dogs and cats have all been patients at Red Bank Vet for over 15 years and I always kept going because I thought they were getting great care. Recently my dog developed a dry hack which I attributed to kennel cough. I have had my dog there twice so far and he is getting worse so I have to go to a new vet now. While the staff is nice, the emergency doctors seem more interested in doing everything to run up the cost. No blood work was done and I'm given pills to give him after telling them he won't eat and I won't be able to get pills in him. They gave him an anti nausea shot after I had to ask for an injection. I am sad and disappointed that bringing in money is more of a priority than my dog's health. My dog is drinking water so I know he has a good chance of recovery from this matter. I've already been fleeced for over $500 with some talks and pills. After over 15 years with Red Bank Vet, enough is enough. I'm going to a local vet closer to home who has much better recommendations.
Everything about this facility is top notch - state of the art equipment and treatment options, attentive staff from reception to exit, clean and comfortable facility (especially nice when you're waiting hours!). Most importantly, the doctors are compassionate, caring, understanding, and extremely competent, taking time to explain and connect and help with decisions. My collie is "kicking cancer's tail" with the help of these wonderful people!
The place is beautiful but expensive for emergency procedures. Even so, they were very accommodating and sweet. They are great with exotics as well, I brought my pet rat in for an emergency procedure and it went very well. I was glad to have such a knowledgeable and helpful veterinarian taking care of my pet.
Well-trained veterinarians on duty 24/7. The care is a little expensive, though, and the pricing structure is confusing. For example, I have brought my 9-year-old Shih Tzu here multiple times. Recently he began limping, and when I called to make an appointment, I was told to bring him in. I did, and when it was time to pay, I was told that I would be charged the emergency rate because he was not their patient. I told them that he was a repeat customer, and besides I called for an appointment, but they said that it didn't matter, they were not his primary vet. I was charged the least-expensive emergency fee, but when I asked how much it would have been to see a specialist, they quoted a price that was actually greater. I left there confused.
I wish this place was a lot closer and easier to get to from where I live. 45-50 minutes drive is a lot but it is worth it for my baby ferrets. But what I don't like is that you don't directly see the doctor right away. You check in with the front desk and then any available vet tech will check your pet's temperature and such (sometimes they are new so they don't know exactly how to handle the pet) and then you wait for about 10-15 minutes or longer (depending on what time you come in) for the actual doctor or substitute doctor.
